REEDBED RAMBLE WALKING TRAIL
LENGTH & TIME 2.35km/0.5 hour
REEDBED RAMBLE
Pick up a trail card at the start of your walk from the café and the children can be entertained by finding and collecting the 6 wildlife stamps along the walk, receiving a unique wildlife sticker back at the café and a small sweetie for their efforts. There are 6 stickers to collect in total and a card to keep them all on.
The Reebed Ramble starts from Old Hall Café and follows the footpath west past the pollen and nectar field which is full of bees and butterflies during the summer months. The trail then heads south down a steep slope towards the Hen Reedbeds and the River Blyth. Look out for a variety of bird life including oyster catchers, avocet, greylag geese and the marsh harrier soaring overhead. In the spring you may be lucky enough to hear the Bittern booming if you venture further along the paths of the Hen Reed Beds managed by the Suffolk Wild Life Trust.
The trail follows the banks of the river eastwards and then turns north at Reydon Quay, picking up the footpath on Quay Lane. Then take a west turn at the Old Quay Inn heading back towards Old Hall Café.
